The Premier's Sustainability Awards 2010

Thursday, 22 April, 2010
Melbourne Convention Centre - Banquet Rooms 201-202 - Melbourne, Victoria.

The first convention centre in the world to achieve 6 Green Star rating, the new Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, hosted the 2010 Premier's Sustainability Awards and provided a unique opportunity to highlight the award nominees in an environment specifically created in accord with the cause closest to their hearts.......sustainability.

Host Eddie McGuire spoke passionately about his beloved Collingwood and their Green Magpies initiative, while The Premier of Victoria, the Honourable John Brumby, proved to be in high spirits celebrating his birthday as well as the Awards.

Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Innovation, Gavin Jennings, delivered a thought provoking speech and, inspiring guests and re-affirming the reason for the awards, Key Note Speaker, CEO of Singapore's National Environment Agency and Director of Singapore's Centre of Liveable Cities, Andrew Tan, added his impassioned plea to care for our planet.

The 750 guests were treated to a gastronomic delight - an incredible four course menu developed using fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from sustainable and organic local producers and farmers served with beverages from sustainable beer and wine makers.

They were pleasantly surprised to see Phil Ceberano and past Melbourne AFL player Russell Robertson take to stage to showcase their musical prowess through dinner followed by local band Black Dogs to keep them dancing until midnight.

The culmination of the evening, the Premier's Recognition Award was won by an emotional Vega Press.

An incredible night of recognition and support for all those often unsung heroes who try to make a difference.
