The Wedding of the Year 2009

Sunday, November 29, 2009
Palladium Ballroom - Crown Casino - Melbourne, Victoria.

The lavish wedding of Ms Brynne Gordon to Dr Geoffrey Edelsten combined tradition and flair.

A helicopter, personalised yellow Bentley and Rolls Royce were assembled inside the Palladium Ballroom to allow the Bridal Party a dramatic entrance. The couple then married under a traditional chuppah embellished with thousands of fresh flowers. The emotional highlight came as a 50 voice choir sang U2's "Beautiful Day" during the signing of the Katubah.

After the ceremony the 500 awestruck guests entered a landscape reminiscent of The Tales of Narnia - knee deep fog, falling snow and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Strings "Silo" performing the Romeo & Juliet theme. A 7 course degustation menu of Kosher and non-Kosher options followed with matching wines.

Hosts Fran Drescher & Jason Alexander added a touch of Hollywood, while MC Richard Wilkins introduced the non-stop entertainment. The show’s star studded cast included Tom Burlinson, backed by a 30 piece orchestra, singing Frank Sinatra classics, Anthony Callea performing "The Prayer", Daryl Braithwaite and James Reyne in a rare duet, Darryl Cotton with "Everlasting Love" and Venetta Fields rendition of "At Last" for the bridal waltz. "Strauchnie" made a shock appearance and as a gift to the Bride and Groom, converted from his beloved Collingwood to Carlton.

The couple chose to support Australian talent and commissioned Trumpet Events to create and produce two outstanding performances, a 20 minute circus show and a Michael Jackson tribute with a cast of 150 dancers. What a night!
